FAST - Cropster Cooperation to Promote Growth of Sustainable SMEs in Agriculture Supply Chains

Published 10 November 2011

Cropster and the Finance Alliance for Sustainable Trade (FAST) are proud to announce a 2-year agreement of cooperation with the objective of promoting the growth of sustainable small and medium enterprises (SMEs) involved in the agricultural supply chain.

This cooperation will help both organizations strengthen their respective services to sustainable SMEs through Cropster's C-sar platform and FAST's Financial Marketplace. Going forward, both FAST and Cropster hope closer ties will help create better tools and solutions for sustainable SMEs seeking to grow their business.

Cropster's C-sar helps smallholder farmers to link up with high value markets, creating an efficient supply chain and assuring a sustainable income for farmers by helping them to improve information access, data transparency and to make well-informed decisions.

The Financial Marketplace is an online platform created and managed by FAST working to close the ‘financing gap' between demand and supply faced by sustainable SMEs by efficiently connecting prospective borrowers and financial service providers. The Financial Marketplace helps SMEs to locate sufficient financing on fair terms and to make informed decisions about the growth of their businesses, while financial service providers benefit both from better-informed applicants and more streamlined access to their target sectors.

The agreement between Cropster and FAST also extends to FAST's Shared Impact Assessment Methodology and Toolbox project, a standard set of impact measures for assessing the social, economic and environmental impact of investing in sustainable production and trade, and data collection protocols for each impact indicator.
